Easter week-end was for us the *re-commissioning* of Letitgo. Although we have come and gone regularly onboard, the boat was not prepped with perishables like food, water or fuel. And now that the major work is done, it was time to shake it down and try everything. This week-end was perfect on all fronts, [...] It’s the time of the year, when people far away re-consider their plans and take time to come closer to family for the holidays. Not this time though, saddly we will not make a surprise visit to France, not to worry Mum! You don’t have to change the settings around the table nor to get [...] San Fransisco, Here we come!! As soon as we passed Duxbury point, life on-board returned to normal! From 35knots of winds we went back to 15 knots left now with only one meter height waves, we were on our last leg of the trip. Finally, Bonita channel was close, and I had fun tracking its [...]
We had all settled in our watch routine by now, and every one had found their space to sleep and rest. We were all in a lovely sailing mood, the sun was beaming and we had perfect if not idyllic sailing condition, we were flying the kite and simply enjoying the moment…. But [...] We spent our last night on board Letitgo, and made it to *K&C*’s boat the next morning, refreshed and ready to “rock”! Food and personal belongings were loaded, the freezer was full in no time and all *K&C*’s family and close friends were at the dock. Of course, many pictures were taken and soon enough [...] Just a quick message to say we are well and making good progress down the coast. We just sailed through two states, and are just arriving to California! More details to come soon…. Ready, though not quite yet for our own departure. The sailing bag is packed, the house/business are organized, the kids have something to do while we are away, and most of all food/menus are all set! We are in good spirit and getting excited… can’t you tell? We will round Cape Flattery a second time [...] Simply, as you might have guessed because we are on the water, enjoying our boat. A fairly simple answer indeed and the few pictures below will for sure prove to you that life is better outside, at the moment than inside in front of a computer screen. Although know that we still take the [...] Admittedly theory and practice are the best tools to develop our seamanship, so when this morning we left the mooring buoy with wind blowing from 18-20 knots one reef was left in. (We learnt that one during our spring escape) On the practice side, our assignment of the day was tacking! Easy enough, you might [...] The weather cooperated nearly all the way, and we had two days of perfect sailing. No wind over 15 knots (of course on the nose each way) but we were able to raise the sail and run engineless for a few hours. The sea was flat and made for a comfortable trip for our non [...] |
