Life is cruel, and full of irony. We lived in some of the best birds-watcher paradise, and always wondered how such a “hobby” could be so fascinating, why would you spend so many hours trying to identify them? No commercial [...] Once on board, there is not much escape other than a good book that will help dream some more! It is also another reason to sit back and relax (really!). Reading has always been a favourite of ours, and undoubtedly I let myself travel with this couple to the South Pacific. [...] As we are wrapping our minds around the technical aspects of sailing, with new courses on “how to” a really neat book showed up to refresh ourselves and to remind us why we are doing this! We feel so lucky to have access to some great finds in our small sailing library : “Always [...] Sometimes you discover things by mistake and this is what happened to us yesterday, a tube of caulking rolled in one of the Lagoon 380 black hole. Now this is a marine one so…. for $15 a piece it’s getting my interest in a heart beat. My “skinny” arm couldn’t even get close, I couldn’t [...] If you ever doubted that keeping watch was useful, I have “the perfect” book for you! It will put your mind at ease, a good way to remember that the job you are doing is crucial… In fact the wording “at ease” might actually be improper as it can play with one’s mind and wild [...] Who will you believe in? The rumors at your yacht club full of horror stories, or the old salt in a dock bar ? Or will you listen to the successful designer of some of the best cruising catamarans?
