The invisible enemy and the unsatisfied customer

Paradise can be ruined by small details, and here is how: imagine yourself arriving at the Four Seasons with high expectations only to discover that they forgot to provide the hypoallergenic pillow that you had specifically requested, or you forgot to pack that little black dress, for the quick romantic gateway! You then, find yourself in need of a smart but not over the top outfit. Life can be hard, making you revisit your priorities…

Why bringing the subject of a luxurious accommodation when you actually live on a boat might you wonder! Well, you see in some ways our experience in Puerto Refugio at the moment is somewhat similar. Truly the location is ideal, a beautiful range of mountain changing color depending on the sun orientation, clear blue water and during one of our snorkel we even had the fortune to witness a turtle swimming ever so calmly. But the water was too warm to be in for relaxation; we are now hoping that the life guard in charge took care of this issue…

So far, we have seen three boats in 5 days, one military one zooming by, the national geographic cruise ship stopped for 3 hours and one panga fishing; those have been the only sign of external life in our beautiful paradisaical bay. We have food for another week and enough homework downloaded for Benjamin to be a happy 11th grader. So why all this fuss, life is good, we really can’t complaint much. Yet so far we have changed room three times, so much so that the maid and bell boy must hate us, and we are still not 100% happy with the service. Happiness is in the detail; our loyal customer profile must have forgotten to note that we don’t like No-see-um or Biting- Midge the culprit to our despair! Those tiny miniature things are relentless, at dawn and dusk they appear to feast on us (mainly Valerie to be precise) leaving marks all over our body! Sadly this makes for an unhappy stay, and the reason is we can’t go on deck to enjoy the sunset, apply freely sunscreen to our ankle without receiving an electric shock, and a few more related issues. Our little story makes for a stay that is not the most pleasant, yet so beautiful. As a matter of fact we went to shore yesterday afternoon looking for the concierge and see if something could be done, but the desk was not manned! We presumed we will have to try again, or just suck it up princess!! Life is not fair…
